Obvious Weaknesses

Sri Lanka has a very glaring weaknesses that do not seem to have been addressed from the last few games.

(1) They lack a big hitter in the no8 slot. Kapugedera or Lokuarachchi/ Bandara badly needed. This will also add variety to the bowling.

(2) Jayasuriya is not looking good, so much so that maybe a left hand right hand combination involving Attapattu and Tharanga should be considered as the openers ?

(3) Maharoof and Dilhara Fernando not tight enough and the skipper keeps bowling Maharoof without a slip and edges go to the boundry. Fernando's no ball problem is still prevelant and he bowls too many to be acceptable at this level.

Come on Sri Lanka ! You can't get away with these shortcomings as the opposition gets better.

I feel srilanka to be dark horses for the tournament, they got some excellent pace bowlers in the form of malinga, vaas and fernando
as you correctly pointed out the main obvious weakness asfar as mine also their big hitters
if they can find one or two for no 6 and 7 they could well score over 300 in most of their games(the first two matches clearly shown there is no one to hit sixes and fours down the order except murali)
on jayasurya i don't think he will play the way he played in first two mismatches,i expect him to fire in main round(he alwasy had success in indian pitches )
on maharoof and dilhara i hope they corretc their wides and no balls for future matches

weaknesses

Hey Batman, you and I seem to be the only guys on this forum. Pity that no one took any notice of the need for a another spinner and a hitter in our line up eh ?

Also the dew seemed a big problem and will tilt the balance in the favour of the side batting second ?

rightly said about dew
once we reach end of october we could witness more and more dew in northern part of india
so whichever teams wins toss they will have great advantage
as far as srilanka consern they need to include kapugedera for the next match

I personally have always said that Sri Lanka needs a middle order batsman that can hit the ball cleanly and finish the match striking the ball. I always thought Bandana would be a good bowler but lately I’m not sure. I think that Sri Lanka needs another good quality quick, apart from Vaas there is not other quality pace bowlers in there line up.

personally, i dont think playing Lokuarachi would be a good choice, at this level. Bandara or Kapugedera would be a better option. Especially Bandara.

Kapugedera is only what 19? 20? So his time will definately come i think...
