true but i think murali will retire not when he gets the record but after next world cup he could make it and on home soil will be inspiring for anyone. vaas will be 1-2 years. jayasuriya 1 year but he could play for 3-4 with his fitness and perhaps his motivation could carry him further no matter what when he retires aussies and poms will disrespect everyone else will cheer him for what he is . a real champion Last edited by b3au : 09-05-2007 at 11:25 AM.

Murali is quite fit for his 34 years, considering the athletic manner in which he took catches in the World Cup. As a spinner, I think he can easily continue for another 3 to 4 years.

I think he will last for until the next world cup - that would be the perfect time for him to retire too (especially if they win the tournament) And i think SL will definately need him to stay that long too - losing Vass, Jaysuria and Muralitheran in too short a time will leave too big a hole to fill.

Murali out of Twenty/20 World Cup So, he wont be coming to South Africa in September. Also, Murali will play the two Tests against Bangladesh but has opted out of the ODI's. I reckon he want to prolong his career by playing fewer limited over games.
