England A squad for tour of UAE and Sri Lanka 2005

Full tour itinerary: The tour kicked off yesterday with a one-dayer against UAE. Man-of-the-match Vikram Solanki and captain Ian Bell both hit half-centuries, as England A made a winning start to their tour of the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka with an emphatic 42-run victory over UAE in Sharjah.

It will be good for the young players development, for them to play in the difficult conditions that the subcontinent provides. It will put them in good stead for the future.

I'm looking forward to see how Vikram Solanki and Ian Bell perform...a good series from either of them and there chances of getting back into the ODI team and in Bell's case test side will increase. Its also nice to see a few experienced faces in the squad like Jon Lewis and Mike Powell, they could still force their way into international recognition yet.

Yep I agree chuck, but I am keen to see the bowlers doing well, because England are light in this possition.

UAE v England A - Match 2

Fine half-centuries from Matt Prior and Vikram Solanki helped England A maintain their winning form on the tour of the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka with a 66-run victory over UAE in Sharjah.

Oh I see. He didn't bowl in the one-day series in SA, did he? Not that I can remember... I guess he is a tresco type part timer then...

Tresco's Right Arm Medium was preferred to Bell's. Bell played four ODIs in SA and Tresco bowled at least 1 over in each of those. In the matches that Bell was selected Tresco sent down 8 overs in total without bagging a single wicket. Medium pace part-timers seem to find it diffcult to take wickets against strong opposition. Even Collingwood only managed 2 wickets from 32 overs in the same 4 matches that Bell played in.
