Mascarenhas deserves a look in 1 day game.

Newman bound to be picked soon, plays for the right county.
Before this season I was not convinced that Newman was anything special. However having seen him a few times I'm believing he might be pretty good. He bats in the Trescothick way, in that if the ball is there he hits it. He needs to become a little more circumspect and work on his, not very good, fielding. The talent is there.

I've not seen enough of James Hildreth other than in 20/20 cricket but he looks exciting.

Mascarenhas should have been given his chance last season when he was bowling really well. I have this suspicion that away from the seamer-friendly conditions at the Rose Bowl he might find life a bit tougher. Unfortunately for him, I think his chance was last year and the fact that he wasn't chosen then does not bode well for him.

Tim Bresnan is very useful. How's his bowling coming along? He can certainly bat - in a number eight or nine mould. If his bowling is getting him the wickets then let's get him along to the Academy.

David Harrison at Glamorgan has always impressed me. He seems to have the ability to get good batsmen out. He's probably quick enough to cause international batsmen trouble too.

Essex have a couple of lads who look useful, Bopara and Cook. Cook's path to the Test side looks blocked by Strauss and Tresco though.
