second-tier nations cricket

It would nice to see some test playing countries send their A team or B team to the countries like Ireland, Scotland, Holland, etc so that they are given enough cricket and there would be better quality in the world cup among the second tier cricket playing nations.

I couldn't agree more. These developing nations need more international competition. The latest initiative by the ICC is to get the best 2nd-tier countries together to play a pre World Cup tournament. No time frame has been announced, yet. This is a good initiative but the ICC need to establish a program of regular international competition for emerging cricket nations and I believe the top nations A teams should play against emerging teams to give them regular top quality opposition.

Perhaps every four years or so, over the course of a three month period (or however long it would take) the A teams of the top Test nations should take on the actual second tier teams in a four day tournament... preferably knock-out, but a league table style on neutral territory would be fine too.

You never know, it might catch on for the big boys too!
