World "A" Team...

Can we come up with a consensus on XI players who would not figure in a current World Xi but who might well figure in a World "A" Team of players likely to figure in future World XIs? I'm going to kick off with a list that's not intended to do anything more than get us started....

1. Salman Butt
2. A. B. De Villiers
3. Ian Bell
4. Michael Clarke
5. Dwain Bravo
6. Shahid Afridi
7. Kamran Akmal
8. Irfan Pathan
9. Simon Jones
10. Rana Naved-ul-Hasan
11. Danish Kaneria

I'm sure someone could come up with another XI that didn't include ANYONE in my initial XI... so let's get a pool together and see how big it is!

Interesting thread... However most of the people mentioned dont qualify for "A" team status.

Here are a few players I might consider.

Phil Jaques
Alistair Cook
Domonic Thornely
Mark Cosgrove
Adam Crothswaite
Umar Gul
Shaun Tait
Chris Tremmlet

Could all fantasy teams please include links to the players cric info page to make this easier for people who dont know the players yet. If this works then it's a fantastic opertunity to learn about other young talent coming through around the world.

I was thinking that the threshold for a "World XI" A-team would be rather higher than for a national side: I was wanting to discount anyone who figured in the recent ICC super-series... and focus on players with their best years still to come... but I doubt many genuine "A" candidates will be up for a place in a World XI in... say... 2007.

A global A Team on the basis you suggest would be interesting though....
