I've watched bits and pieces of the highlights from most of the games and found that both sides just slog throughout.

I know this would appear quite obvious, given that this 20 over cricket, but the English competition (the only other I've seen) generally has a good majority of batsmen play proper cricket shots for the most part.

This is why we are seeing such low scores I reckon. The pitches look easy for batting, maybe not the best bounce ever but it's consistent.

wit the better team, cricketing shotz are being played. concerning the pitch it isnt the best nor the worst, sometimes the bounc can be inconsistant and battin under lights can be difficult cuz we're not used to that condition.

This is true and, maybe, my post was a little too general for the competition itself. Certainly the top batsmen are playing strokes but we often find that many batsmen do take a wild slog and appear to have a short 'slog fuse'.

A very good point, even in England sides always say that batting under lights is completely different so if you've rarely done it in the past then it's always going to be difficult to adjust. However, you have start somewhere in playing D/N matches.

see the inexperinced players are the ones paying the rash shotz... that can be understood to a point. they fail to understand that the singlews add up... it's either 4's, 6's or dot ballz fo them..

Should this be seen to? Clearly, if players are going to take that kind of mentality in to one-day cricket, they are going struggle when there is a spinner bowling at one/both end(s) and boundaries are difficult to get.

Slogging has its place in cricket but I would have thought it be the lower order/tail-end batsmen that go for those shots. Not young, proper, batsmen trying to make a name for themselves in a big event such as this one where there is plenty of media interest.

It's the first live game in the UK and it's the final.

Trinidad v Guyuna, the two sides that should be in the final I think.

Still in the build-up but I might just stay up (11.41pm in the UK currently) to watch it.

Interesting to see the pitch inspection. Seventeen hours of rolling over two days has made the pitch rock hard. I think this one might just have some good carry to the keeper. It's very dark though and apparently has a little ridge which could cause some very odd bounce if hit.

If it were Glenn McGrath bowling he might just have a field-day on this wicket, let's see if either bowling line-up can take advantage of this flaw in a very flat pitch.
