Excerpts: Quote: |
West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago star batsman Brian Lara believes the considerable gap between regional first-class and international cricket is causing players with great potential to suffer short-lived international careers.
| Quote:
"I want you all to understand that I saw it at 375, 400, I said nothing," the world Test record holder said. "Multiples of companies expressed their appreciation of Brian breaking 375, of Brian breaking 400. Congratulations Brian Lara, such and such, but our products are such and such.
"This wouldn't happen in America," he noted. "It wouldn't happen in England, but it happened in Trinidad."
Although saying the companies seemed well intentioned, Lara lamented the fact that some of those same organisations were not present to make contributions, "when it is most needed".
"I have received enough," Lara also declared. "I don't need anything else. I need to give back to society and I want you guys to join me to give back to society." | |
