"As it is I don't think I will be playing one-day internationals after the tournament," (World Cup) So, its only in whites we'll see him after the Caribbean WC 2007. For how long? Long as possible, I hope. |

---> Lara announces his retirement from ALL cricket: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cric...es/6574317.stm Its a shame he won't be giving the crowds in England a last hurrah. I'm sure the attendances would have been good just to see the last innings of a legend. Hopefully he'll play well in his last match and leave the pitch to a standing ovation. |

| It is now confirmed. Brian Charles Lara has retired from all international cricket. Tomorrow's match against England will be his last game. I guess he proposes to continue playing for Trinidad for a couple more years before finally hanging up his maroon cap. |

| That's reason enough for a trip to Trinidad in the next couple of years! I hope you're right, Nostromo. Just because they retire from the international scene doesn't mean they have nothing more to offer the wider game. I am hopeful of seeing Warnie a couple of times back in Hampshire over the next two summers as well.

| Shame,i was hoping a last glimpse of the genius this summer in England but you can't blame him.He has had a brilliant career. |

| Absolutely gutted he's quit Tests as well.......................virtually no point no going to the Lords test now (the only saving grace is that it's not the office)..........hope he takes millions off us on Saturday, just one more time like the old days. You do have to wonder what has caused this decision, given his stated desire before the WC to play tests for a couple more years or so...................was he given the opportunity to jump before he was pushed ? As batsmen go he's still head and shoulders above anyone else in the West Indies set-up................it's a huge folly on the part of the WICB if they've "convinced" him to retire. I for one hope he reconsiders. For me, without doubt he was the very best of the best of his generation. If I was only ever allowed to watch one batsman in full flow ever again................no contest. |

| BC Lara was worth the money alone. The only time I saw him bat in England was v Kent, when he scored 0 in both innings What a shame he'll not come on tour, and good luck (Sir ?)Brian Lara and thanks for all those cricketing memories.
