Apparently he was very quick and hostile.

In one of I think, Simon Hughes' book he recalls how in 1993/94 in the the Caribbean Graham Thorpe was batting in the nets and Clarke bowled to him of 4 paces in trainers and Thorpe complained about the ball flying past his head at pace!

In that case I would hate to see him 15 years younger off a full run.
