| Windies team for the WC Fazeer Mohammed, a Trini journo, is upbeat about the Windies chances, despite the 3-1 loss in India.... http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/ci/co...ml?CMP=OTC-RSS He sees nine players who will have penned their names into the starting XI. Gayle Chanderpaul sarwan Lara Samuels ramdin (must do better!) Bravo Bradshaw Taylor Like Fazeer, I have question marks over Dwayne Smith, who is supposed to be a batting allrounder, but who has been very disappointing. Like Morton, their only benefits seem to be as fielders, so they could always be used as emergency fielders! Who do you think should fill the remaining places?

the squad has been announced, and the other six players are Dwayne Smith, Devon Smith, Lendl Simmons, Darren Powell, Corey Collymore, and - surprise, surprise - Kieron Pollard! Are there any Windies fans on this board?

The Windies have put together a fairly good squad. Strong batting lineup and a decent pace attack though i am not sure if Gayle, Sarwan and Samuels will sufficiently make up for a lack of a quality spinner but depending on the wicket they play on, maybe a spinner will not be needed anyway. Pollard i do not know much about - must be a promising player they have brought along to get some experience All in all, it looks like the Windies have a good enough squad to win the world cup if they play to their potential at the right time, and have some luck. Lets hope they do

| Where is Ricardo Powell these days? There was a time when his big hitting would have got him into any WI ODI side. Come to think of it, they do not seem to have a real big hitter in this World Cup squad, except maybe Gayle on his day. |
