WI Training Squad for ZIM/SA named

Roach, Pascal in Windies training squad

Teenage Barbados fast bowler Kemar Roach has been included in a 23-man West Indies training squad to prepare for the upcoming tour to Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Roach, 19, is a highly rated righ-arm fast bowler who has played in only three List-A matches for Barbados in the 2006/07 KFC Cup competiton.

Roach joins Amit Jaggernauth and Nelon Pascal as the three newcomers to the West Indies squad.
Ramnaresh Sarwan was not included because of injury, and the selectors are awaiting final word on his fitness.
Marlon Samuels was not included because the selectors are awaiting word on his fitness, according to a WICB official.

After a a pre-tour camp at the WICB's High Performance Centre at UWI in Barbados, the selectors will pick a 15-member squad for the tours.

A few guys I've not heard of there.... Parchment, Patrick Brown, Roach and Pascal. Any tips on these guys Ninjaman? Any of them the new saviour of West Indian cricket??

Interesting to see Rawl Lewis in there. He had a decent tour of New Zealand a couple of years back, despite taking no wickets (again) he actually bowled fairly well and he was a successful addition at #8, as I recall. Didn't think we'd see him back again though.

None of them are anything to write home about.

Mediocre averages and performances are all that is needed to be in contention for a space in the side.

If you check out Roach's brief record which consists of just 3 List A matches it demonstrates nothing means he should be "highly rated".
