| Lara Thinks He Has 5 Years and 3,000 Runs Left Lara, is guardedly lauding the training camp, telling friends that the regimen and analysis provided by the new coaching staff could add at least five more years and 3000 thousand runs to his test career. A trim looking Lara began camp a couple of days after it started after finalizing some business in Trinidad. Since the break after ICC trophy Lara and sidekick Browne have been on a strict diet and exercise programme that included swimming, weights and aerobic to prepare themselves for Australia and more so the training camp which they knew would be strenuous and hard paced. Lara has coped well so far and is very pleased with the professional way in which the camp has been run. There is more commitment from the players knowing that selection partially depends upon their performance and realizing that for once they have a coach who seems to know what he is about. King has video-taped the bowlers and batsmen in the net looking at the strengths and weaknesses for remedy. This has really made Lara happy as for a long time he has been saying this is an area in which the WI was lacking. Batsmen and bowlers would come to the team with flaws and it would not or could not be corrected at test level by the coach at the time leaving these flaws to be exploited by opposition test teams. My sources tell me that if the pace continues at this rate over the duration of the camp these players are going to fit, physically and that should carry over to their mental preparedness also. Those who are not chosen should be better able to serve their particular territories in the Carib Cup after working on whatever was picked up for correction at the camp and highlighted at their exit interviews. | King sounds like he might turn this, no doubt talented, team into a real force. Can't wait for the VB series! I agree that Lara can keep playing. Perhaps for even longer than 3 years... Players are as fit and well looked after as ever now and their carrer life expectancy has risen by at least 3-4 years.

| Hopefully we'll have a well faught one-day series, WI even with their recent struggles have been a force to reckon with in one-day cricket. And if I'm remembering correctly Beny, Australia have lost the last 3 games they have played against them....hmm, Pak vs WI, final, that would be interesting |

| Well, that's the beauty about the one day game. It brings teams closer together and gives everybody the chance of winning!
