2odi v SL

*Cough *cough *erm, now then lovely weather lately eh, don't you think!

Zim didn't really bat that well, and showed inexperience. To lose by nine wickets is a hard and bitter pill to swallow.
All the things we did right in the first ODI, like not getting bowled out and batting for 50 overs just seemed to evaporate .
Vaas and muri bowled to well. Our bowlers just couldn't find line or length.

Oh dear.
Well done SL!

Still feels weird, talking about this Zim team. I know everyone has their political views and it's all been talked to death. Whether people think this team should be playing or not - they are, and it gives us something to talk about!

Couldn't have picked a worse ODI batting line-up to try and contain early in your careers, so most of the Zim boys were on a hiding to nothing. Can't work out whether Hondo is a brave trier or an expensive luxury and I don't think Nkala bowled. They need to find any player (raw or not) with a bit of pace, that can be selected, and stick him in to try and induce a few mistakes early on from the SL top three. Also, why not push Nkala & Maragadwe (?) up the order and drop ebrahim down, to try and prolong the batting innings. It would also help if most of the tail didn't try to keep hitting Murali for 6 and then getting out next ball!

Yes but it shows that Muri could be thought out a bit if they played sensibly; get after Muri's not such a bad plan, SL rely on him. It sort of worked in the Ist ODI, but here the wheels came off.I agree with the order shuffle ; Nkala should have bowled. The zim team does seem to revolve around skipper.

The Taibu issue is interesting. I'd quite like the guy to be a roaring success - but can you captain, be top batsman, keep wicket and be 5th bowler, especially when there are unused bowlers in your line-up - I don't think so.Taibu should stick to batting 4, keeping and captaining - the best way for people like Nkala to learn, is to bowl against top-class players.

all nice rational posts , thanks guys - people get so carried away with their demonising.

the team got what they deserved, unhappily for me. taibu should NOT be bowling - what sort of message of confidence is that sending to his team.

i think hondo is ok - he bowled well in the first class games in eng and oz. but we do need to find some real pace.
