| 166-2 What the hell is happening over there!! |

| I watched it on TV over here. The Banglas batted like seasoned professionals, they were a credit to the game. Bashar's innings was a joy to watch. The Windies had absolutely nothing substantial to offer in any respect. Only dear old, nearly geriatric, Ridley Jacobs showed any determination, (he's from just up the road, in Sweetes village, from where I live). His catch from the rebound from the short fielder's bum from a Sarwan delivery beggared belief. Batsman's wicket it seems. See how long the Banglas can hang in tomorrow morning, and then see what the WI can do against a reasonable looking attack! For my money they could well give the Windies a run for their money. As I said in an earlier post on some other thread, I hope the Banglas get some thing out of this series |

| It really saddens me, the West Indies team (after England) were always my favourite to watch. They should be destriying Bangaladesh, not struggling to get them out. Still the day did finish better than when I posted. Like many English guys, I have grown up watching and admiring the likes of Walsh, Ambrose, Marshall, Bishop, Paterson, Garner, Holding, Richards, Haynes, Greenidge, Lloyd, Dujon, Richardson etc. It is so sad that this calibre of players is not still filling the West Indies team. It is also notable that County Cricket that used to be full of West Indian overseas players, is now full of annomous Australians and South Africans. The other factor I noticed is that the England team was full of guys with Caribbean roots - like Defratis, Malcolm, Hedley, Small, RO Butcher etc. But now there are very few - the last is, probably, Alex Tudor. We often play West Indian sides at club level, but I have noticed these guys are getting older, with no new players taking up the game - even in England. It really saddens me, as the way the Windies play the game, and the music, the humour and the knowledge may be lost from the game in a few generations. |

I totally agree with you. It didn't matter who your "home" side was, the Windies were always a joy to watch. The Banglas finally got back in after the rain, and are looking very assured even tho' the Windies bowling seems to be more up to snuff than it was yesterday, and there does seem to be more in the pitch with the rain about. They've just put 50 on without too many problems. If the home side don't liven up a bit their attitude could carry over to when they get at the crease, with disastrous results for them. The usual sloppy attitude once more!! Well, well Ashraful's just gone LBW. |
