Seeing that between Gayle, Sarwan, Chanders, 44 overs were bowled, especially on a trinidad wicket the selectors keep getting it wrong. Last time Dinas took 3 in one innings. Miller or Jaggernauth should have been played. Antigua wicket is no different to QPO. If Hinds is fit then Miller who is left hand orthodox should not play, Jaggernauth should play. Without a spinner Browne has to go (dropped Kallis on a few),With a specialist spinner Browne has to definitely go, Baugh who is a better bat or Ramdin a better keeper of spin should play. Xxxle will come good, as he has done in the past. Pagon (wake me after tea) sholud make way for Deonarine. I like Powell's aggression. Saw Bravo yesterday and was impressed with his bowling, he has hung around with Sarwan so far. I must admit before this test I had him out of the squad. Gayle is flat footed but he gets the job done sometimes. My 11 for the Barbados test is: 1.Gayle 2.Wavell 3.Sarawan 4.Lara 5.Chanders(capt) 6.Deonarine (Hinds if fit) 7.Bravo 8.Ramdin 9.Collins 10.Jaggernauth 11.Powell

Welcome to the board Ifty. Its good to see some West Indies fans here and we'd like to see you views on all the topics here. In terms of your post, I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but I don't know who Miller and Jaggernauth are. Could you give us a few details of these players for those less atuned to the West Indies players on the fringes of the squad. What is your opinion of Omari Banks - he looked to have potential during the tour of England; and although he wasn't successful, is he seen as one for the future in the Windies? There's also been a lot of talk recently about this being a poor West Indies team and that the team don't have the support structure in place to help the team develop. What do you see are the real problems with West Indian cricket at the moment? How can the Windies help themselves, and is there anything the ICC or other test playing countries could be doing to aid development?

What happened to Jermaine Lawson?? He was a super quick bowler and looked a great potential for the Windies. Now there is no news about him!! Has he quit cricket?? he played for Windies some 2-3 years back.

Windies problems With reference to the post by Andy Mellon : I attended a very informative presentation yesterday hosted by the University of West Indies, where 2 of the remaining 'W's spoke on the state of Windies cricket and on the late great Sir Frank Worrell... Sir Everton Weekes was never at lost for words and some of the interesting things he said was that he felt it was about time the West Indies got together as a region and started to run Windies cricket... In other words, he said, 'If Trinidad would but a few millions, Barbados a few,..." and everyone else followed suit we would have atleast $US 25 million and won't have to depend on outsiders ( That sum is what Digicel is bringing to the Windies Cricket True that! All I have ever heard from Teddy Griffith is what is the deficit of the WICB and that the players want too much money, not how we are going to get Windies back on top, only how much indebt the board is .It is true cricket is a financially taxing game but in the end the team always comes first not reducing some deficit accrued due to poor financial management. The bottom line is , 'No players, no cricket, no Board!' Both Sir Weekes and Sir Walcott , also harped on the indiscipline of the younger players and their apparent disregard for advice from the older , experienced heads. I won't doubt these Sirs on the stories they had to tell. My two cents on the matter is that , as much as I don't agree with the WICB, WICB and The West Indies players Association (WIPA) needs to find a common ground void of sponsorship rivalry. Plus, we need a former Windies player to head that board, someone who loves the sport not the bucks. Finally, the West Indies need to have a better standard of first class cricket... No more English county Cricket for the boys, and therefore most of the youngsters never play against the standards of Pollock, Kallis, Mc Grath or Ponting pre se until they are debutants. Then when they fail that one time, they are dropped and we don't see them for 2-3 years. Experiences brings knowledge, therefore how are you gonna groom the younger boys in the mode of Test cricket if you never play them?

Dinas refers to Dinanath Ramnath, former West Indies and Trinidad and Tobago spinner. He has since retired and heads the West Indies Players Association (WIPA). After taking the presidency of WIPA, his place on the side was forever gone. He could spin the ball! Dinesh Ramdin is the former U15 West Indies captain who lead his team to victory in the Under15 Cricket World Cup. He plays for Trinidad as WicketKeeper/Batsman. Jaggernauth is also spinner for Trinidad , if I'm not mistaken. Unlike Ifty, I would play Dave Mohammed instead of Jaggernauth... Mohammed is a leg break spinner, from Trinidad who has played International cricket , unlike Jaggernauth.
