| I think Courtney Walsh would top my list of "must watch" batsmen: sure, when Viv Richards, David Gower, Sacchin Tendulkar, Brian Lara or VVS Laxman were seeing the ball like a football and impossible to bowl to you felt you were witnessing something exceptional.... as you did in those great play/leave duels between Atherton and McGrath / Donald / Ambrose... but that's just picking highlights from long careers, and you never knew in advance that such moments were coming - but each and every time Walsh walked to the crease you knew it was going to be worth stopping what you were doing (albeit on the understanding that it might not be for long) :-) |

| The most inept tail ender I have seen to date is Fazle Akbar, he replaced Umar Gul in the Pindi test against India last year. It was almost as if he didn't know which end of the bat to play with. Gradually though he got him self to figure that out, and somehow he even managed to hang around for a while, as Mohammad Sami on the other hand made 49 to help Pakistan to a get out from a really horrible situation into a slightly less horrible situation. | I think there was a period , quite a long one too, in which Pigeon didn't manage to get of the mark at all. |
