I am still supporting Plunkett here, seemingly on my own though.
Out of your choices I would go for option 3 with colly before Loudon (and try to renegotiate the bowling - Plunkett for Sidebottom) but that seems the best choice.

Then...who bats 5?

Fine by me... though I'd add Collingwood as well... even if he wasn't able to bowl he'd be my first choice as middle order batsman!

ps. to Statto: no objection to Plunkett... but for next year. Performances should count for something... and Sidebottom has out-done the youngster hands-down this season.

pps. I agree that this makes my case for Cook weak... but if you insist on me agreeing to Key, instead, I will relent.

Id have Plunkett, davies Tremlett, Sidebottom, Mascharenhas, even Ali above him for the place.
it's an A Team for Test cricket, and "Mascharenhas" is one I would not pick, Davies is in the team with 4 votes.

So
Davies (definite already selected)
Tremlett
Sidebottom
Plunkett

Spinner???

PS Kirby is not that old.

It seems to have been forgotten that one of them has done enough to get picked for England this year but I'll go back and have a look at figures. I may be biased because I'm a lancs fan and every time Sidebottom plays at OT he gets carted. As for Key I never mentioned him, I want Newman, Joyce, Shah, Cook, Sales as the top 5.

I am happy with those 4.

No, but its 4 years I think since he had his very good year for Yorks and he seems to have gone downhill since then.
