I haven't seen much of Flynn so i'll pick Bell as the last batsmen.
Was McGlashen not eligible for the keepers spot? |
Well ladies and gents, Sittingduck's contribution, in the absense of CD Stags leaves us with the following team as the WAT New Zealand A Team:
How, Fulton, Taylor, Ryder, Papps, Bell, Watling, Yovich, Patel, Sherlock and Aldridge
I reckon the batting order would look something like: How, Papps, Taylor, Ryder, Bell, Fulton, Watling, Yovich, Patel, Aldridge, Sherlock
How do people feel about that side on paper? To me, it looks very capable of scoring shed-loads of runs. The top six are all international class, and the batting goes down to Patel at number 9. The bowling is definately the weaker end of the spectrum, though Patel has shown himself to be international class in the WI ODI series, Yovich, Sherlock and Aldridge are largely untried. I suppose the only alternative would be to use Papps in the 'Alec Stewart' role, and bring in a bowler for Watling, but given the voting, unless there are any serious complaints, the team will stand as above.
As for McGlashen, I think the general consensus seems to have been that he's not good enough. Frankly, I don't think his name was even brought up until now. The only time I've seen him play, he looked way off with the gloves, although he can be destructive with the bat. But in answer to your question, he certainly is eligible for the team as he meets all the team criteria with ease.
