I enjoyed the whole read Rachael - I will read that again later, hard not to go off topic reading that .

I see Foster as probably my choice in the same way the I chose Read for the main England team, he is probabaly the best keeper we have on offer.

Not forgetting Englands Ashes win with Jones behind the stumps, a lot depends on the other 10 players chosen, so Prior is not yet totaly out of the frame as far as I am concerned.

I would love to participate, for the one and only reason that I know painfully little about English domestic cricket.

I'm gonna go for Prior, only because the name is familiar to me...I will choose a second one, after I've really gone through their stats.

If you all don't mind I'd like to pop a name into the hat...Rikki Wessels, Northants. You've got to give the guy some credit. He's been keeping to Monty...Right?

And now for my question: When will he qualify to play for England?

First Class record of Riki Wessels
Code:
Season Matches Inns Not Out Runs HS Ave 100 50 Ct St
2004 1 2 0 35 34 17.50 0 0 4 1
2005 14 23 3 613 107 30.65 3 2 23 4
2006 10 17 2 353 62 23.53 0 2 27 1
Not a good year in 2006. He is only 20 so has time on his side to impress the selectors. Let's see if he improves next year.

True, 2006 was not a good year for him. But like you say Mike, he's got time on his side...And a pedigree to boot

Can we agree that our leading candidates (currently Foster with 11 votes and Davies with 8) have BOTH shown themselves to be strong no 7 batsmen and that ANY of the others would be perfectly capable of batting at 7 in either our side or the England Test side?

Division 1
Code:
Name Mat I NO Runs HS Ave SR 100 50 Ct St Team
P Mustard 16 27 2 816 130 32.64 71.76 2 3 53 1 DURHAM
MJ Prior 14 22 2 934 124 46.70 68.62 3 4 34 11 SUSSEX
LD Sutton 13 16 3 666 151* 51.23 48.26 2 2 38 3 LANCS
Division 2
Code:
Name Mat I NO Runs HS Ave SR 100 50 Ct St Team
SJ Adshead 16 28 5 687 79* 29.86 48.10 - 4 47 2 GLOUCS
SM Davies 16 27 1 1004 192 38.61 59.94 3 3 58 5 WORCS
JS Foster 16 20 3 721 103 42.41 51.61 1 6 65 3 ESSEX
MA Wallace 16 27 4 698 72 30.34 52.40 - 5 41 3 GLAM
DJ Pipe 12 19 4 500 89 33.33 56.36 - 3 39 6 DERBY
To me these figures justify selecting the most promising gloveman.
