WAT South Africa A Team 2007/08

Does anyone out there want to assist in selecting (last) year's South Africa A Team? None has been picked for last season, and it'd be great to do a quick job in selecting one.

Philander clearly starts as the allrounder, and if Duminy's eligible he should still be there. Tshabalala is the only spinner I recognise, but he didn't really have a great season. But du Preez, Zondeki and Louw look like pretty decent pace options.

As I recall, Kuhn is an opening batsman and keeper, so he's a sure thing in my opinion.

Davids has the weight of runs behind him for the whole season to be in contention too.

Batsmen: Duminy, Albie Morkel, Kuhn, Davids, van Zyl, Puttick
Keeper: Kuhn + Another
Spinners: Not many options. 13 wickets for Tshabalala isn't enough.
Seamers: Plenty available. Philander, du Preez, Louw, Zondeki, Joubert, Mpitsang

Potential line up:

Duminy
Kuhn (+)
Morkel
Davids
Puttick
van Zyl
Philander
(spinning all-rounder?)
Louw
du Preez
Zondeki

The problem is I don't really know what positions most of these batsmen play in f-c cricket- I was under the impression that Duminy was a middle-order bat. If not, fine, but if he is then I really think we should try to find the best available specialist.

As for the spinners, I think the only two options are Imran Tahir and Robin Peterson. Tahir had the better season as a bowler alone, but he's 29 and Peterson seems to be the next cab off the rank, as well as being a decent no. 8.

As for the pacemen, du Preez, Louw and Zondeki are the standouts among the specialists, with Philander as the allrounder.
