| As you have started a thread... why don't we consider it "started"? I was thinking of starting it this week anyway!!! Do you want to do the initial donkey work of sorting out who is eligible? We usually take the averages for the season and then just filter out (by hand) all of those who are overseas players, Kolpak players, over 30 or Test veterans (principally those with more than 6 caps, though we exempt folk whose most recent cap was a long time ago). Alternatively, we could kick off by just identifying a pool of leading candidates. That what I did last year: ask for nominations in the categories of opening batsmen, middle order batsmen, glovemen, seamers and spinners. Over to you... |
| |||
| The problem with that was that there were heaps of threads that were really hard to keep track of. I think the first option is the better one- it worked well for the 2007 Australia team, and personally I thought that discussion flowed a lot more smoothly than the England one where you had five or six threads. |

| If we had trouble last year this year will be a nightmare as there has been so much rain that players haven't really excelled on a regular basis. I have a few names in mind for my team but one individual is making a great case for himself this week in a game of massive proportions so i will wait till next week to decide fully. |
| |||
| The names that immediately spring to mind without checking on all the qualification etc. are; Horton, Denly, Bopara, Patel, Rashid, Bresnan, M Davies, Murtagh, S Davies, Shah, Foster (young enough?), Tomlinson?, Moore, Godleman, Benham, Swann, J Harris Mickleburgh from Essex (I think) looks a good prospect as well, but too early to pick him. To name any more I'd have to have a look through squads to jog my memory. |

| If Adam Shantry had played more games i would have said he would be a certainty but he only bowled in 9 innings in his 7 games,despite averaging less than 20 the fact he only played half a season is something to put a minus on him. Adil rashid is a certainty as the spinner this season and Bresnan has made a good case.Be a balanced side with Foster at 6 followed by them 2. |

| I'm just going to throw a name out there- Dawid Malan- I know his stats don't make great reading, but he did score that century against South Africa, so that's surely to his credit. |

Am I right in thinking the reasons for ineligibility are overseas, Kolpak, over 30, Test or One Day veterans (more than 6 caps) or less than 6 County Championship appearances? If I have got any of these wrong (I wasn't involved last year) let me know asap.

| I have tried but I can't post the information. Is there anyone else who can do it. If it helps I have got lists of who is eligible from Derbyshire, Durham, Essex and Glamorgan.
