Can Read shephed the tail or will we see the usual England (A) tail end collapse?

454/8, Bresnan gone to Kaneria who has now bowled 35.3 overs. Hoggy in to wind them up, I hope!

Read has his hundred, well done. 484/9 after Hoggard went for an 18-ball 3, Broad hanging around on 2 and Read on 104.

More pressure on Jones now that Read has got runs today. It is good to see that there is a decent alternative should the selectors decide a change is needed.

He's putting pressure on to a small degree I would say, although I think it would really work in his favour if he was on the right end of an England collapse in the second innings and helped (possibly) to set up England A into a winning position.

Tea up now, Broad is sticking around.

I don't think we will know just how good England A have batted till Pakistan get to the crease and comparison be made then.

Well, 40 overs of Kaneria and he only has 4 wickets against our reserves, so I think that's pretty good batting. I think Jones may be dropped soon, though I feel the pressure put on him by the pro-Read camp on here and in the media was shameful - I don't doubt he has felt under serious pressure every time he has gone out to bat for over a year, which can't have helped his concentration at all. It seems they have got their way, as I think that Jones could do with being given time away from Scapegoat CC to gain confidence again.

Very true - it worked for Jimmy Anderson. It's doing no good him deteriorating in the side.
I still don't think Read will get picked, even with a hundred.

Read might get picked, he might not. At least we know he can bat against some quality bowlers - although, as I've said, we really can't comment on how good the century was till Pakistan bat. If it's a batsman's paradise you can only credit him with good play and not giving his wicket away.
