| Can Read shephed the tail or will we see the usual England (A) tail end collapse?

| Read has his hundred, well done. 484/9 after Hoggard went for an 18-ball 3, Broad hanging around on 2 and Read on 104. |

| More pressure on Jones now that Read has got runs today. It is good to see that there is a decent alternative should the selectors decide a change is needed. |

| He's putting pressure on to a small degree I would say, although I think it would really work in his favour if he was on the right end of an England collapse in the second innings and helped (possibly) to set up England A into a winning position. Tea up now, Broad is sticking around. I don't think we will know just how good England A have batted till Pakistan get to the crease and comparison be made then.

I still don't think Read will get picked, even with a hundred.

| Read might get picked, he might not. At least we know he can bat against some quality bowlers - although, as I've said, we really can't comment on how good the century was till Pakistan bat. If it's a batsman's paradise you can only credit him with good play and not giving his wicket away.
