Interview with Dave Nosworthy (NZA and Canterbury Coach)

As I've previously mentioned, Dave Nosworthy - coach of Canterbury and New Zealand A (as well as being the coach of the Titans in the past) has agreed to conduct an interview with us.

That interview has now taken place, and you can read the interview at the attached link. Personally, I think this is one of the best interviews that we've had here at World-A-Team and provides a brilliant insight into both coaching and playing cricket at a decent level.

Please take some time out and read what Dave had to say, and make sure that if you read it that you post your comments here. Dave seems happy enough to answer any follow-up questions that you may have, so we'd welcome your comments.

Yes, wonderful interview. Thanks to Dave Nosworthy for giving so many insights. Lots of thought-provoking questions from Andy. Good stuff. Some time back, Rod Marsh was critical in the media of his players performances with an Academy squad on tour in the sub-continent. At the time, I thought this was a reasonable action to take otherwise the public may think the fault lay with the team's preparation and blame the coach. I'd like to know whether Dave would ever be critical of his team in the media if they underperformed to his expectations.

I expect this would be a very difficult option because captains rarely, if ever, blame the coach in a post-match interview. Captains usually blame the players but never the coach.

The interview has been updated with a whole load of follow-up questions, mainly in regards to the Emerging Players Tournament in Australia, but also for Mike's question above and some stuff about what's been happening in Canterbury in the off-season.
