Any very good reason? I'm going on limited information on each... but I'm increasingly convinced that the best of Sales is what's been seen day in, day out for several years... that his level is only ever going to be Ok rather than special... and that there's nothing more to come.

Hildreth has long been marked out as having the talent to be genuinely special... and is already delivering at Sales' level: in the past I'd have been reluctant to back Hildreth's promise in the face of Sales' proven value... but now that Hildreth is actually delivering pretty consistently AND showing promise as "bit of an old-fashioned batsman" (see his profile) I see no reason to prefer Sales now.

Sales and Hildreth have similer first class averages, but with players like these stats are all we have to go o..

Sales has maintained his average three times longer that Hildreth, and I think that alone should get him a batting spot in the England A Team over Hildreth this time, in any case I don't think Sales will be eligable next time round.

Also even on this years county averages alone, Sales comes out on top over Hildreth, despite having played one match fewer.
