EPP v MRF XI

Looks like the EPP (acadamy) bats got a decent run out. All got in and Carberry got a good ton. It does look liek a typical flat subcontinental deck though. When the EPP came to bowl Onions has bowled very economically, especially for a flat deck. The one dissapointment is that again Rashid has been unable to take any wickets, he didnt take any last winter on the subcontinent and he hasnt done anything this winter so far.......

Be reasonable: 800 runs were posted without anyone seeming to struggle - the top 7 (including Rashid) racked up 500 with every batsman contributing.. and the top 3 opposition batsmen racked up a couple of hundred in reply. This suggests to me a pitch on which no bowler could achieve much.

Rashid did his bit with the bat and did his bit with the ball: further judgement must wait on more sporting pitches.

Thats the problem - we dont want him turning into a bits and pieces player.

I will concede though that from afar the pitch looks far too flat for a decent game of cricket.

In the end a good win for the EPP side. It looks like Onions bowled well in the match.

Still no wickets for Rashid though . If he wants to play at the highest level it will have to be as an allrounder and at the moment his bowling is way under par - you cant expect to get a game for the national side if you are going to bowl 20 overs and take 0-65 every game. Still time is on his side though and in 3-4 years he may well a the top class spinning allrounder .

Even though the standard of the opposition isn't up to much it's good to see Trott back in the runs and wickets. Amazing what spending a couple of weeks with a coach who's actually qualified will do for you.
