I voted Yes - but I would watch any cricket. I doubt that a TV company would see the commercial value though. So I doubt it will happen.

I agree, shame I would watch any cricket, I can't see it happening.

Granada used to cover the Roses matches, which coming from Lancashire was great, but I would watch say, Surrey v Glamorgan.
They dont cover it any more, shame!!

ECB and reality

I do believe that the EBC has no concept of the notion that interest is generated by media exposure. Having said that neither does the BBC or Channel 4, to judge by the scheduling of highlights. A fine example is rowing. Despite regular olympic success, there is little interest in the sport outside the olympics, because...it is never on TV.

Hi Peter
I agree with you that tv exposure would generate intrest in all forms of cricket, including county cricket, ot A team cricket. yes the highlights could be earlier, not sure I agree with you about rowing though, it's an individual sort of sport, like mountaineering, I doubt anyone would watch it.

A minority sports tv channel, could I think cover things like bowling, which it already shows, lesser cricket, and maybe Baseball, and the like.
The BBC in paticular has a lot of minority channels for junk, I am sure they could spare one of these.

Peter I live 6 miles north of you, and my son lives and works in Wigan, you have put in your location,Wigan Lancashire, are you not now Greater Manchester, I know that is where most of your council tax money goes, I think since the boundry changes, my town is the most Southern town in Lancashire.

We used to be classed as central Lancashire.

Lancashire or not Lancashire

Greetings Ernest,

I guess from your description that you must be from around Adlington. Of course, GM (I can't write the full name as swearing is not permitted) is, and always has been a figment of politicians imagination, unrecognised by residents and the post office alike. I am not a real pie-eater but a Boltonian, which of course is also in Lancashire. Since the GM council was terminated a few years ago, all my council tax goes to Wigan MBC, which is very adept at wasting it for me, on bus lanes with no buses etc.

It looks like Lancs is doomed for relegation unless a win with maximum points is achieved against Gloucester. I'm not holding up much hope though as I remember last year going into one of the final matches needing batting points, and Chuckie elected to field. Aaaaaargh! My prediction Lancs 450, Gloucs 200 all out and 200-9 with the last day being abandoned due to rain. Things can only get better.

Not far out Peter, a couple of miles West, My non league football team once played Wolves at Boltons old ground,in the FA Cup, made a draw, and went on to beat them 3/0.at Walsall I think.

We have got massive yellow marking on our roads, and big blocks of yellow for the bus stops, horrible, and out cash goes to making footpaths wider, for no one to walk on.

Yes Lancashire are in a bad way, they where pre season favorites for the title, and things started well, I think we are doomed, I dont believe we can save it.

Only a couple of days ago I watched South Africa A beat New Zealand A, and if was good fun. Even before that here in the sub continent Ten Sports not so long ago broadcasted the tri nation tournament between India A, Pakistan A and Kenya. In England, viewers might be exhuasted with cricket because of the amount of county matches that are televised but over here you hardly ever got to see the fringe players or future players to be in action since domestic cricket gets no televisiosn or radio coverage, the only way to keep track is via the print media.

I'm all for every competetive match being televised, I also think tour games and under 19 games should also be televised.

Indeed, those television rights come up for grabs really soon. WAT TV anyone?
