I think Hopkins is too old but I'll check on that. I'm sure we would have considered him if he was available though. A pretty thin pool of keepers this year, the best in the comp has been the South African Kruger Van Wyk but he's not eligible due to residency.

They showed the commentators' preferred sqaud again today, and it included a 21-year-old batsman named Martin Gustill - seems he's at least done well in the one-dayers. Does he feature?

Guptill? He's a promising mid order bat, I think in his first season for Auckland. To be honest i'm not totally convinced by our mid order (apart form Ryder and Hay), if I have the time I'll get the updated stats for the season.

Just checked and Hopkins is 32, Guptil has averaged 23 this season so I don't know why he's being talked up as a tour prospect.

Batting averages for the season after round seven for the best eligible players.
Code:

GR Hay (CD) 572 runs @ 63.55
DR Flynn (ND) 554 @ 55.40
NR Parlane (Well) 586 @ 53.27
IA Robertson (Cant) 243 @ 48.60
GR Todd (Ot) 563 @ 46.91
DJ Bowden (Well) 368 @ 46.00
TG McIntosh (Auck) 540 @ 45.00
AJ Redmond (Ot) 445 @ 44.50
PJ Ingram (CD) 515 @ 42.91
TI Lythe (CD) 316 @ 39.50
NL McCullum (Ot) 347 @ 38.55
AM Ellis (Cant) 268 @ 38.28
Fylnns clearly had a good season since Crhistmas, I hadn't looked at the stats in a while but I now I don't see how we can really leave him out. A middle order than of Flynn, Ryder, Hay and Todd?

And the bowling stats too (clearly not getting much work done today lol)
Code:

BE Scott (Ot) 28 wickets @ 19.28
BC Hiini (Cant) 26 @ 23.88
TG Southee (ND) 25 @ 20.64
AJ McKay (Auck) 23 @ 21.00
BJ Arnel (ND) 23 @ 23.65
DJ Bowden (Well) 18@ 27.66
LM Burtt (Cant) 17 @ 27.82
WC McSkimming (Ot) 17 @ 30.76
LJ Woodcock (Well) 15 @ 29.40
MR Gillespie (Well) 13 @ 19.15

NL McCullum (Ot) 15 @ 39.06
TI Lythe (CD) 13 @ 50.07
I've thrown McCullum and Lythe in at the bottom too as I had agreed Lythe was number two spinner behind Patel but now I'm not so sure. For reference their batting stats this season are McCullum 347 runs at 38.55 HS 106* - Lythe 316 runs at 39.50 HS 75.

1. Redmond
2. McIntosh
3. Flynn/Nicol
4. Ryder
5. Hay
6. Todd
7. Griggs
8. Hiini
9. Southee
10. Patel
11. Gillespie

Redmond, McIntosh
Nicol, Ryder, Hay, Flynn
Griggs, Watling
Patel, N.McCullum
Hiini, Southee, Gillespie, McKay

Interesting that Redmond has been named in the touring party for England (along with the mediocrity that is James Marshall). Elliott misses out despite nearly bagging a double hundy last week. Its the state final this week - Wellington vs Canterbury at home, and the weather's not looking great. Is the team above acceptible?

Welcome back to the better side of the Tasman Andy. Don't you mean Nicol/Flynn, Ryder, Hay and Todd though for middle order. Should we have a vote on Nicol v Flynn?

Honestly I'm not surprised we're not taking Elliot to England, the selectors will often drop players before they've had a chance to learn the ropes.

Thanks sittingduck. The weather's better over here anyway

I guess looking at the stats, it should be Nicol vs Todd for the final place rather than Flynn having to battle against another player.

Maybe it should be Nicol vs Todd vs Flynn and select 2 out of 3 as the final decision to be made?

Well if you feel Flynn is now a cert than I'll endorse that and have Todd as my second out of those three. Though it hurts to drop a fellow Aucklander from the team.
