possible zim team for SL

jumping the gun here, but purely cricketwise, we must move on:

Ebrahim"
Sibanda"
Siziba/Chauluka/Manyande
Masakadza"
Matsikenyeri"
+*Taibu"
Nkala"
Mahwire"
Mbangwa"
Hondo"
Panyangara/Ruswa/Mutendera.

PS - Brighton Watambwa" also has some test experience (i think), wonder if he´ll return for a guaranteed place in the test team?

Not a great team by any stretch but 9" (10" with Watambwa) with test experience.

-Masakadza with a test ton.
-Mbangwa has as good a test record as any zim bowler bar streak.
-Nkala is handy with bat and ball (has the test scalps of lara, waugh and tendulker amoung others to give him some motivation) and is having a very good season.
-Taibu is a vital member of the current side and has becoming used to plugging the dyke (if only temporarily).
-Hondo certainly has his moments,
-Panyangara had an excellent U/19 tournament.
-Ebrahim is decent, as is
-Matsikenyeri - who was promising to improve and partnered flower in a win over england in an awful series.
-Mahwire and Sibanda are worries as they never really stepped up off the bottom rung .....while the others are mainly names i´ve noticed this season but don´t have opinions with any sort of foundation.

(i doubt it but) does anyone see any promise at all?

Sorry to say but with that little lot, I think England could send the academy team (whoevers in it) over in the Autumn and they should win.

Greame Hick England captain for a one off tour?

Unfortunately most won't be eligable for England as they have represented Zimbabwe previously.

I would guess that you could probably scrape together 11 players currently playing in the English CC who were either born in Zim or who have "at least 1 Zimbabwean grandparent"? Unfortunately I could only name Hick which isn't much of a start really.

hick represented zim too. things can be worked out.

Brant plays for essex
and flower could be fast tracked

there´s your team - two decent bats, a wicket keeper and a fast bowler, throw in a few extras (all the above would have at least one grandparent (like myself) of english origin but any old extra should do it.

i wasn´t considering white players or i would have gone for taylor and vermeulan (don´t know what´s happened to him - injured maybe) or ewing if he´s not one of the "rebels" (or is that "dissidents"?).

know nothing of rainsford. and still think pommie mbangwa or brighton matambwa are better than any of these and possibly any in the "normal" team (bar streak). it´s not only white players who retire early.

i´ve heard of the two batsmen ommited from my list and they´re probably as good as the ones i´ve chosen (who are pretty poor anyway). i remember hearing someone say sibanda was the worst test batsman they´d ever seen.

as for mahwire, i presume he´s found other work cause he was in the test side pretty recently and looked promising: no nothing about utseya and mpawira
