I'm all for sending a second string team.. but am not sure {a} youngsters should be exposed to the traumas of such a controversial tour; or {b} we should risk tarnishing future Test players with involvement in an episode that might dirty them in the public's eyes as much as the rebel tours did for an earlier generation.

Personally, I'd send a seniors-party of former Test players.

If Hussain is going to be retiring soon he should lead the tour... and if he is available I'd have Hick as vice-captain (just to wind the Mugabe lot up the wrong way).

Full team: Crawley, White, Hick, Ramps, Hollioake, Hegg, Croft, Salisbury, Bicknell, Caddick, Gough.

They'd still win...

Of course, Croft and Caddick would pull out, not for moral reasons, but for "safety" concerns. I.e. overestimation of their own importance.

I'm not sure the ICC will take test status away from Zimbabwe, even if it is merited (personnaly I think it isn't yet, but if it continous like this, then ,despite all my wishes, it is unfortunately inevitable) because of legal ramifications.

If England do tour they will have to send a full strength squad or face tremendous critisism.

The ICC will have to act (and act now, ) unless they think that Sri lanka v Zimbabwe is a fair match.

The ICC Chief Executive has hinted that they might if the team situation does not change, something that they have been careful never to do with Bangladesh. Of course, it's premature because this team has not played a Test series yet and until they show that they are totally unable to compete in the Test arena - and one guesses that it will be over several series - one can always hope that maybe it won't be as bad as it looks.

Many people are talking of the death of cricket in Zimbabwe. I'm still tempted to send the very strongest possible England team and blow them apart.

CricInfo reports suggestions that the ICC are backing down suddenly on the Zimbabwe tour and there are even whispers of Zimbabwe being suspended from Test cricket.

well it's a bit short notice, more likely to get in a single test, like sri lanka did with us a few years back, they need to get in quick before the old players come back

if they're going to ask for a full 3 though, they may aswell for go for a 6 match 'ashes' series, play for a little cup with the ashes of zimbabwe's democracy in it :/
