Blignaut back with Zimbabwe

After an unsuccessful time with Tasmania, Andy Blignaut has signed a new contract with ZC.

BBC report here.

Good news, hopefully most of the other 'rebels' will return soon too.

It's a complicated situation though - somewhere here I read some notes from Andy Mellon (I think) which suggested that some of the people concerned have signed contracts which would prevent them from now signing with ZC. I don't pretend to know the details of this, but I rather suspect that some of the chaps who parted company with ZC last year did so on the basis of one way tickets.

Well I'd severely doubt that. Im sure Price and G.Flower would have some idea, and have said that if they are happy, they'll leave their contracts on the Kolpak agreement. I dont know if there is a penalty however.

Good news for Blignaut, im sure one imaginarydiva would be happy. Youd have to think that they'll get another 5-7 signatures.

A surpising but welcome development. I thought all the rebels would be gone for good.

Speaking purely from a business angle, one would hope there is a penalty. There's no reason at all why the counties should employ these chaps to keep fit and then never get a game out of them. At the least there should be a penalty to recover the salary costs and training costs which the counties will have expended, as well as an appropriate embuggerment charge (a technical legal term, that!).

Rodney Rude is a Legend!!!!

Anyway, back to OF's call. Blignaut will most likely open the bowling and bat at 5 when back.
