Captaining Zimbabwe

Since Zimbabwe's cricketers went on strike, the issue of captaining Zimbabwe's team has been hot. The rebels wanted it to go back to Heath Streak but Zimbabwe obviously want a black captain, so Taibu gets the gig by default if nothing else.

Should Streak captain? Or should Zim keep with the times and keep Taibu there, even though he is trying his best, he is found out against good bowling? Streak or Carlisle are the only two I can think of.

I don't agree, I think Taibu is doing an excellent job with what he has, the Zim. team has great potential but need a good coach to do so. Maybe Moody? anyway Taibu has handled the media well from what I have seen and that 1/4 the battle, so i feel he should continue

I agree - whoever was right or wrong, Taibu should keep the job for the forseeable future. Streak should just concentrate on getting match fit and get back to the peak of his bowling.

Although performance wise,Taibu has done pretty well,I somehow feel that Strek is still the best bet to don the captain's mantle.Plus,Streak has a lot of experience, and in the past has been able to lead the team extremely well and make them perform above the 'minnows' tag.Ofcourse,I am yet to see Andy as a captain. That would be very interesting for me.

Here's a thought, why not introduce co-captains?

Is there a law against it?

There should be! How would that work in the Pakistan and Indian teams - I would fear for Ganguly or Inzi! Having Streak in Taibu's ear wold be very bad, and would send out a lot of signals that could be treated very nastily by people in authority.

Perhaps KAllis could help out Smith in SA, then they would be sure to become far more adventurous!!

Well, seeing as Taibu said he'd look up to Streaky and Carlisle for advice, do you really need it.

In most sides, the Captain is just a star next to the name. However, South Africa and New Zealand's captains are showing that there is alot more to it.

Yeah, I guess Taibu will always have Streak by his side for any advice. So perhaps, he is after all the one to go forward with.
