I know that in certain countries immigration laws permit people to sponsor even their fiances.

I agree with you essentially, just wanted to point on how he has his connections with Australia, i.e. he is dating (or used to, I cannot verify) former Zimbabwe coach Rod Marsh's daughter.

I also think his chances of making either England or Australia are fairly limited, it would be in the best interests of both him and Zimbabwe if he considered moving back there.

I would be happy if he come back and plays for Zimbabwe. He said that he does not want to play for Zimbabwe. He probably needs 4 years I think to qualify to play for another country. If he is thinking to play for Australia or England, I think he is making a mistake. First there are tons of players in Australia and England playing county cricket and lots of young players emerging who have great potential and would come to the national team. So there is going to be a lot of competetion for him to quality to play for the test match. They probably will keep him for 2 to 3 years and eventually will drop him, otherwise he has to sweat a lot to be in the team for a long term basis.

My point of view is go and play for either Scotland or Ireland and he should planed to live in Ireland or Scotland with his wife and family. These two countries have a lot of potential and lot of promising future. Within 5 years Ireland and Scotland are expected to get into test cricket if they have very good players and have very good development. Already the 6 countries including Kenya is qualified to play International ODIs.

Coming back. If he stays with Scotland or Ireland he will be able to play cricket for another 8 to 10 years because he is very young. He will also able to play 3 to 5 years of test cricket if Ireland and Scotland qualify for test cricket. Being European countries, I am sure ICC will help them to get test status soon.

Look what happened to Hamilton. He is back to Scotland after playing for England for 1 or 2 years. I hope this doesnt happen to Eriwine if he plays for Australia or England.

he says he's wondering "which test team to play for - england or australia" (the two best teams in the world) he should have just stuck to "my ambition is to play international cricket again".

as an edit: - if he doesn't return to zim i care little what he does with his career. i very quickly stop lamenting those who've chosen to go. hope price comes back tho'
Hear Hear! I don't think anyone disagrees with the first point. He has had a promising county season. Yet, it'd place him no better than Rikki Clarke. Australia is a better bet if he can get in the WA side, he's only played once for them. Watson is a batting all-rounder, Heinriques I've heard good things about, but at 25 I wouldn't mind Ervine. I've always been one to follow Zimbabweans overseas, whilst with a small sour taste in my mouth. I wish them the best of luck, especially the Flower boys, Chunks, Sean Ervine and Raymond Price.

I think the man we must blame for this is Heath Streak; his stand jeopardised the rest of the team.

.
i follow them too - i even still follow the likes of hick, elworthy, johnson and goodwin (i go straight to the county sides with ex-zim players) essex, sussex, derby, worcs -and warcs until recently - and i do wish them well ... but i do not concern myself at all with thier return.

i'm undecided on streak - i'm happy to have him back and with his popular appeal (at least in mat'land.) his return after some concessions (that's a strike...reluctant compromise, they couldn't have expected to change the system!!!) showed that he was zimbabwean - locally speaking. cricket is a rare source of enjoyment, even pride, and the return of those guys may save zim cricket from absolute ignomony. who knows!

what they've done to fierrera and rogers is sad sad sad (of course *wishart and carlisle too but...well the 1st 2 really had promise)

Ervine,in my opinion, should go back to Zimbabwe simply because of the fact that Zimbabwe NEEDS him.

Chunks, or Testosterone, is Travis Friend, Derbyshire allrounder.
