| Although I'm an England supporter, I'd say Zimbabwe - they have less choice of class players at the moment than England do. Failing Zimbabwe, I'd of course say England. |

| I know he is still young but would he get in the England side? Only averaged 29 with the bat this season.

| is he possibly just an"egocentric prick??". he says he's wondering "which test team to play for - england or australia" (the two best teams in the world) he should have just stuck to "my ambition is to play international cricket again". that's just a little dig - but in fact i've always felt he would go far. i am put off him at the moment on reading that he's ruled out a return to zim. - but that's my own selfish wish that zim return to a decent side. as an edit: - if he doesn't return to zim i care little what he does with his career. i very quickly stop lamenting those who've chosen to go. hope price comes back tho' Last edited by butchering lee : 04-09-2005 at 10:25 PM. |

| He's talented no doubt but I dont think he should have said he's considering both ENG and AUS...that shows he's only concerned about his cricket and has absolutely no sense of loyalty to any team or should we say nation...look at Pietersen, even he did leave SAF to play int'l cricket but he now proudly says he's English and has no regrets about leaving his birthplace..

Ervine would have a hard time playing for either England or Australia - he is young, but by the time he gets qualified legally to represent either, he would be around 28; generally considered too old for ODI and Test debuts unless its an exceptional case (eg Gilchrist being kept out by Healy). By that time, I reckon there will be many younger Englishmen and Australians who will be thought to have greater potential and so the national coaches would prefer to invest in them as opposed to a near-30 with only a few years left on the clock. He should stick to Zimbabwe....

{a} no country commences naturalisation procedures because one happens to be dating some citizen of that country, {b} biologically speaking, girlfriends or spouses have limited impact on an individual's genetic make-up, unlike parents, and {c} A person's 'real' mother is unique through his/her entire life-span; a person can only have one mother. On the other hand, theoretically, the boyfriend/girlfriend count is infinite, and is seldom one or even a few. Some of the above would no longer be relevant if the girlfriend became a spouse, in particular the legal point.

| ervine will be 25-26 when qualified to play for australia or england. england have an all rounder --> flintoff australia have watson and possibly moises henriques to come through...maybe australia would be his best bet...new zealand should have been an option...paul strang does ok in the land of the sheep! |
