i agree he is better than his stats. show. i know i say i haven't seen a lot of these guys (and it's true) but i saw him in england and in oz and he looked to learn every game. i also followed the commentary against the windies and they were impressed - still don't think he's comparable (if comparing a spinner to a pace bowler is possible) to streak when at his best. not saying he couldn't have been!

the sad thing is i have never actually seen any of these guys play:

panyangara, taylor, chigumbura, cremer, dabengwa or ewing...how do you watch them if not in zim. is there a special sky channel which would show games as uninteresting to the rest of the world as a test against zim? (if there is i'd look into it for real!)

that was ray price's best quality...he learned everyday.

yeah i havent seen many games the guys have played...some of them i only have brief memories of playing in the logan cup a few years ago.

panyangara has a very promising action. he is tall its a high action and very smooth.
chigumbura is solid in both bowling and batting...good technqiue
cremer looks to bowl a bit like murphy...mind you i have only seen him bowl 3 balls!

Fortunately for me,i get to see all of zimbabwe's matches which i never miss.I've seen Panyangara, tall lanky. Can be a little erratic but fairly effective too.Cremer was good, looked like an intelligent bowler.Got a good wicket taking knack.

Yes, Panyangara has a West Indian style action, and is quite a tall chap. Averages mid 30s in the ODI arena. Chigumbura, I liken his bowling to that of Dwayne Bravo's: similar actions, that is who Chigumbura should attempt to emulate with his bowling. A cavalier style batsman though, and like many Zimbabweans, his day doesn't come very often. Yet. Though, he has shown that he is able to cream top class bowling attacks.

Brian Murphy is the best test match spinner Zimbabwe have ever had, but I saw the series against South Africa (and bits) against New Zealand and yes, he went for heaps, but his wickettaking balls were genuine top draw leg breaks; that is the most promising thing, and that is what Zimbabwe should be attentive to. Focus on the positives rather than the negatives.

On the Ray Price thing, totally agree. I met him in Melbourne when they were playing an ODI. Very very humble gentleman. And yes, he did learn. I remember him saying he spoke alot to Greg Matthews and Stuey MacGill. It worked; he took 6-120 odd against Australia at Sydney. Possibly a 200+ wicket player for us if he'd have stuck around.

Or, the players that you had picked in front of them might have scored 200 each. You never know...

Oiii! Get back here. Leave Duffer alone!

He copped a ripping outswinger to dismiss him today. I don't think Trev should be called back. I'd much prefer Ray Gripper anyway!
