Terry Duffin

Looks as if he has a very strong pull shot judging by that. He is a big fella and has a lot of arm strength, that shot is a little reminiscent of Matty Hayden.

Perhaps that is what we should manufacture. A big batsman with arm strength, Duffin could be a very good cricketer for Zimbabwe.

Would be a welcome addition to the team, as there are many who aren't so arm strong, like Matsikenyeri, Sibanda, Vermuelen, Matsikenyeri and Taylor.

I predict big things for this guy. I've never been so excited at a Zimbabwean talent as I am with Duffin.

Seeing as my first real glimpse of Blignaut was at the 2003 World Cup; no. I'm seeing Duffin from the outset. What I meant was "in a while". I was definitely excited by Blignaut, but he had been going round for four years by then.

I was excited by Masakadza and Taylor of late in their first series, but it looks as if we have a rock up the top of the order. Honestly; when was the last time Zimbabwe had a rock that big (pardon the pun!). Andy Flower is the only name that springs to mind.

not sure he's a rock (ie. of dutch decent...) with a name like Duffin. so i guess the pun was on the "big" - wasn't his plumtree meals - unless they've improved a whole bunch!.

btw - yeah, i like the fact that he didn't blast his way to 50 but played within his limitation (as described). it's all about performances imo.

Further to that, whether he was going to middle that or not, he can play within his limitations and develop a very good pull stroke; he certainly has the arm strength to do so and having a look at that he has done everything right (Except maybe, middling it!)

If Terry Duffin can make his wicket a very valuable one to the opposition in the future, I can see him becoming one of Zimbabwe's best of the current crop. That's what the Zimbabwean players need to learn; play within your limitations. The thing is though, there is some very good talent amongst the young black players. How to utilise that I'm not to sure.

i was kidding about the middling it.

he does look good...and i certainly hope he makes as good an openner as he looks like he can. i don't think we've had a decent openning pair since i started watching cricket.

In my opinion,Taylor and Duffin make the best opening pair in the given options.Duffin has a good temparement for test cricket, atleast from what I saw of him in the first test. Not exactly the big-hitting types vut he's got good technique, defence etc. That 50 in the first test was very good for a debutant.
