mutendera last played a one dayer in 2001

campbell and his brother i believed intensified the race issue in zim cricket.

for those who don't know, when taibu made his debut due to a.flower being injured, taibu was next in line to be keeper. most ppl agreed dispite him being 18.

alistair insisted that his brother donald should play and apparently threatened to withdraw himself from the match if donald didn't play.

He sure did. I remember he said "It's pretty hard to captain a team when you don't get the best side". They did the right thing with Taibu though. Campbell was a prick to Zimbabwean cricket anyway. Remember in the Windies a few years ago when Campbell was dropped for Wishart, him and Zimbabwean Cricket's other royal families, namely Whittall, Flower and Streak got together at his request most likely and had Houghton overthrown pretty soonly.

Picking Don Campbell would've sent us backwards. The only thing I didn't agree about with Taibu was the fast tracking. Got him out of Churchill School and in to the tour of the Windies and then England.

Of course they were. When Andy Flower retired, and when Heath Streak was sacked, they were seen as honest, innocent blokes who'd never put a foot wrong.

There was more to the guys. They believed that because they had a high standing they could pull as many strings in whichever direction they wanted.

i'd have to disagree there.

i personally thought alistair campbell was a very good batsmen. his technique was very classy. he had a problem with his concentration though.

he was a player who should have averaged in the 40s.

maybe in ODIs (A. campbell should have a 40 ave). i don't doubt his class - i saw quite a lot of him - but i think he has the test ave. he deserves.

your obviously not a fan , i have seen a bit of him and i often thought that he looked brilliant at times. he was a ordinary captain!
