Well, with Andy Flower as wicket keeper, there really is no place left for Taibu even though I do think he's a good fighting cricketer - Andy Flower was world class. His record of 12 test tons by a w/k was the most by any player until it was taken over by Gilchrist just a few days ago when he scored his 13th against us in Sydeny. Class player, Zimbabwe's best I would say (test average of over 50!!), and good enough wicket keeper as well. Can't see how I can acoomodate Taibu in this side of mine.

exactly. Tatenda may have spirit but you honestly can't mention A Flower and Taibu in the same breath.

Since you asked

I've never even considered picking a team for this thread but as I was so graciously asked by someone who shall go nameless ~I have chosen the following:

  1. Grant Flower (can open, and will in my team) – always in ODIs – maybe not in tests)
  2. David Houghton (I might well play him as glove man an bat at six)
  3. Murray Goodwin (Can play quick or slow depending on the situation)
  4. Andy Flower (best ever – so will bat at 4 – where all the bests play)
  5. Tinashe Panyangara (too young for a bestof team but one I rate)
  6. Heath Streak (Maybe one to high but if born in any other country would be recognised as one of the best of the modern era)
  7. Paul Strang (SLA and decent bat – ave bat 43 – ball 33)
  8. Ray Price (tight SLA who could hold a bat)
  9. Travis Friend (a talent never developed)
  10. David Brain (Left arm fastish – a rarity )
  11. Henry Olonga (Has the aggression for an opening bowler if not the voice)
Too many all rounders (or bits & pieces if you are picky) for a truly competitive team in the 5 day game but would give most sides a decent challenge in the limited overs version.

Lol...Dw RD 1.

Here is my provisional side for the Best ever Zimbabwean XI

G. Flower
M. Goodwin
D. Houghton
A. Flower
N. Johnson
K. Curran
S. Ervine
H. Streak
P. Strang
E. Brandes
H. Olonga

I've removed Guy Whittall (I know Milo was keen on GA Hick) but Olonga gets the nod at this stage.

I require your thoughts on this.
