Sadly, hear hear.

If we break 150 with the bat it should be looked at as an almighty achievement, as should restricting them to 300 in a match.

You're forgetting that they are going in with a new captain and are coming of a lot of thrashings and are a completely down team with some of the domestic associations having no confidence in their coach. So this may be an interesting series. On the other hand you two may be on song. Thats the beauty of this game .

Considering the West Indies' very mixed form at the moment I think Zimbabwe could contest a few of the game at least.

But you would say that the chance of a 7-0 whitewash is greater than that of England's against India?

I don't think it is purely because WI do have a tendancy to collapse and also because their bowling can be indifferent often.

i am beginning to look forward to it a little - i was looking at the county scene and saw ervine's performance first up. this guy was no older than some of the boys in WI (granted he had a bit of experience around him but...not too much!) and he matured quickly - and well, like taibu did at the same time. a few of the guys who were promising to lift zim out of the depths were inexperienced (price) or just plain young (ervine, taibu...).

i am not expecting much but if a few step up to the plate and relish the opportunity.... it'll be interesting, if only for the few zimcricket fan's still bothered! - if they think they're on show for a spot abroad (a better incentive than the long-term prospect of earning a zim salary) they might prove to be worthwhile opponents.

until not that long ago there was still a good cricketing foundation within the school system so this lot should have the grounding to take off from. I AM NOT SAYING THEY WILL but they have occasionally showed real fight - duffin's debut, meth's last few performances, taylor and utseya's potential, chigumbura's performances in SA when he was bowling REALLY quickly and accurately to boot (above himself really).

i'm not actually excited but i'm beginning to look forward to the games

As mentioned beofre on these formus, I believe Zim is going to miss a few key players. I was surprised to see that for the opening weekend of my Surrey League club fixtures, Taibu will be playing in the league above me, and that Dion Ebrahim is playing for my old club - Old Hamptonians!!!

Belatedly- and I apologise about how much I've lost interest in Zimbabwean Cricket (As opposed to Zimbabwe Cricket) but here is the squad:
Rainsford, I'm looking forward to seeing. Hasn't played international stuff in like, 18 months. It's not a bad squad and I see we just smoked Antigua!!! Beating those sides is a good thing.

And Piet Rinke is class.

It is a shame that Zimbabwean cricket is slowly being finished, with Bangladesh coming up and if Zimbabwe can build up a good side then it would be really good for cricket. Ten test nations will be then competing with each other and there will be a lot of rivalry between teams, cricket needs more nations playing.
