Is there any hope?

...That Zimbabwe will even play test cricket again?

I doubt there's anyone up to first class standard in the country at the moment, and I believe most of the lads from the WI ODI series have gone to play in England permanently.

I personallyt think that it is over of Zimbabwe as a cricketing nation, it does show how political problems can work its way onto a cricket field. Unfortuantly i cant see any white cricketers wanting to play in Zimbabwe.

Thumbs up Rhett

I think that Zimbabwe cricket has little hope regaining test match status as it is being ran by that awful Robert Mugabe.
Thankyou for your time.

Go Yapi Yapo

Yes there is hope - Test cricket will still be waiting long after Magabe has gone, so no problem on that score, no one lives forever.

Angry No Hope

Well Ern (you must like the Ashes, Ern),
In contrary to your thoughts some people do live forever
(in our minds), Adolf Hitler, The person starting with J ending in S with ESU in the middle, Pol Pot, Abraham Lincoln etc.

I read that he's changed the constitution in Zimbabwe to put (I think) his son in, so Zimbabwe Cricket is still screwed even when he's gone.

If that carries on too long though, someone will challenge him. It could end up like Somalia though, if they're not careful. Factions all fighting for power. In any case, it will take a long time for Zimbabwe cricket to recover. Most of the experience and knowledge in Zimbabwe cricket has been held by white people, and you have to doubt how many of them would ever be involved again, or even return to the country. The drain of resource will leave a big hole to fill.
