Sadly, Mark Vermuelen has now been charged by the Zimbabwean police with arson for both buildings.

That'll probably be jail then, if he's found guilty. I woonder if they'll let him take a ball in with him, so he can do a Steve McQueen and chuck it against a wall endlessly?

I guess for all of us who have doubted the mental strain on Trescothick this is an eye opener as to what mental strain can do to a player... sad indeed

Oh my lord! What the hell!

The guy obviously has some issues, though you can never be sure with the Zimbabwe Police. The CFX Academy, which I've had the pleasure of going to, was a fantastic facility, which was designed (And was getting there) to help Zimbabwe become an international heavyweight.

Sad for Mark Vermuelen though.

Unhappy

i seem to remember that vermuelens troubles and erratic behaviour all started after he stopped a bouncer with his head!.if i remember correctly, a cracked skull was the result.that was the catalyst for some "off the wall" behaviour and what he really needs is a proper diagnosis and treatment, not prison.the man has mental health issues(and i mean that in the clinical sense) and i expect prison in zim will ruin his chance at anything like a normal life.this is a very sad end to a cricketing career that had lots of promise.
