Zimbabwe 201/7 (49.6 ov)

a credible score really - but we'll see how the bowlers do - i hope they can keep it tight!

South Africa RR 3.76
Required RR 4.09
Zimbabwe RR 4.02

South Africa 32/2 (8.3 ov)

EC Rainsford (rfm) 4.6 0 9 1 1.80
[8.3 Rainsford to Kallis, no run, short of length ball on the off stump, Kallis gets the edge but falls short of 1st slip fielder ]

i am easily impressed

Get in there Zimbabwe - teach SA a thing or two in their own back yard.

Sky haven't got the right to this series so I'm missing out on the action . Still, it's great to see Zimbabwe beating a side with some great players.

The real question is if they can keep this up for the series.

I certainly hope they do, but I can't see how. Such a young team. And very inexperienced. Did you hear what the Zim captain said when asked why they're batting first on Friday?

Anyhow, SA looked a little rusty on Friday, but that's to be expected.

i can't see how they will either - what i am wondering is; do these results boost their confidence (i mean they were still beaten with 7 overs to spare) or just remind them of how far off the international grade they are?

i hope it gives them confidence but then if they gain confidence getting beat what hope for a win in the future, with pride in losing?

i see that there are some bowlers with credentials: imo mupariwa can hold his head up - 33 wkts @ 22 ave and he's played SL SA OZ WI.
...and of course a lot has been said about utseya recently (at least his economy holds up well)
...rainsford needs exposure to some "A" teams but he still shows good promise

the batting leaves a lot to be desired (but then, it always did - not quite this but)}

btw wanderer, what did he say? they'd had a big breakfast and the bowlers needed thier food to settle?

or apparently that they wanted an early exit - if they bat first the whole match could be concluded inside of 30 overs TOTAL
