no, i don't consider myself rhodesian in any way - i was about 5 when we became zimbabwe and most of what rhodesia stood for is best kept in history books imo.
it's ironic, i think, that people consider themselves rhodesian at all because most of those who still do, left after 1980 (most of those who stayed, that i know, rarely, if ever, refer to themselves as rhodesian - they may say "born in rhodesia" or sumink but don't call themselves rhodesian). the thing was, they declared UDI seemingly because they believed the "homeland" brits had lost their essential britishness and thus betrayed them - which means that in fact they saw themselves as more british than the brits - now they're rhodesian?? well, technically they are (and probably emotionally) ...
- and there are, as you say, many in the diaspora (i don't know the numbers - but now there are supposedly only 20 000 odd white zimbabweans so 10 times the amout outside seems a small number i think) - i see they've set up "when-we" sites and chatrooms all over the place but my feeling is that the younger generation have other things on thier minds! - like cricket in my case

(see what i did there? a "not-quite" subliminal message about my age

)
